Vice-Rector's Office
The Vice-Rector's Office for Research and Development (VRID) of the University of Concepción is responsible for activities in scientific research, artistic creation, development, innovation, business incubation, entrepreneurship, and service provision. (UdeC Decree 2011-069)
Mission
We are a secular and pluralistic university, founded by and for the community, that contributes to sustainable development across diverse areas of knowledge by training people highly committed to society, as well as by generating, preserving, and transferring knowledge, arts, and cultures.

La Dra. Rodríguez focaliza su investigación en el área de datos con variación espacio-temporal. Actualmente, es Vicerrectora de Investigación y Desarrollo de la Universidad de Concepción, investigadora senior del Instituto Milenio Fundamentos de los Datos, miembro del Consejo Asesor de Modernización del Estado (desde 2022) y del Consejo Asesor del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología, Conocimiento e Innovación (desde 2024). Fue parte del comité de expertos asesor para la Estrategia Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial (2019-2023) e integrante del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia (2021-2023).

El Dr. Mennickent fue el primer astrónomo graduado en Chile. Obtuvo su PhD en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y realizó su postdoctorado en Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, USA. Se incorporó a la Universidad de Concepción en 1994. Actualmente, es profesor titular del Departamento de Astronomía de la Universidad de Concepción, e investigador del Centro de Astrofísica y Tecnologías Afines (CATA).

Civil & Industrial Engineer, with a Master's in Strategic Communication with international certifications in innovation and development. She serves as Executive Director of the Transfer and Licensing Office (OTL UdeC), a position in which she manages the University's technological portfolio and its transfer to companies and institutions, both nationally and internationally. Her professional experience is related to technological management, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

At the University of Concepción, the Research, Development, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship area encompasses activities aimed at generating knowledge, including research within and across different areas of knowledge, artistic creation, transfer, innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge dissemination.

The Research, Artistic Creation, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship model detailed below allows us to effectively materialize the foundational commitment and mission of the University of Concepción with scientific, technological, and artistic development, promoting the generation of R+D+I results that contribute to national development and the well-being of people.
